This is a little complicated. I have 2 computers
connected to a router that supplies me verizon dsl. I
installed the verizon software setup on the desktop. When
I access outlook express on the desktop I only get email
addressed to (e-mail address removed). OK so far. On my laptop, I
did not install the verizon software. I have netzero
software because it was installed before the dsl was
available; I want to leave it so I have internet access
when travelling. When I access outlook express on the
laptop I only get email addressed to (e-mail address removed). Also
OK so far.
How do I configure outlook express on the laptop to get
email from both verizon AND netzero? Must I install the
verizon software on the laptop before I do anythin else?
Thanks

Create a new mail account in Outlook Express on the laptop, and
configure it to receive mail using your Verizon user name and POP3
server. I recommend configuring it to leave mail on the server so
that you can read the same Verizon mail on the desktop, too:

1. Click Tools | Accounts | Mail | Add | Mail and follow the prompts.

2. After creating the account, click Properties | Advanced and put a
check mark next to "Leave a copy of messages on server".

Steve, maybe you can help me one more time: I followed
your advice and added accounts to both computers so email
from either source can be viewed on either computer.
Thanks. One question: It seems each morning I open
Outlook Express it reports errors in trying to locate both
servers. If I close OE and reopen it, I get the message
that only one server cannot be located. Closing down and
restarting OE a third time finds all servers and mail is
deposited normally; I'm fine for the rest of the day.
Then it seems to start all over again the next am. Running
winxp pro. Any thoughts?

Hmm, I don't know what could be causing the server problems, Hal.

Maybe someone else can solve it. If you don't get an answer in this
news group, I recommend posting your question in the OE group:

Steve, I may have stumbled accidently on the cause of my
problem. I checked MS knowledge base and there is a known
issue between the Norton AV "email checking" program and
OE timing out. MS recommends disabling email checking;
though Norton AV has an option in its configuration that
is supposed to guard against this. I'm assuming that
either I'm opening OE too quickly after booting up and
Norton AV hasn't finished its ritual, or the anti-timing
out feature of the NAV isn't as good as they say. In any
event, I waited a few extra beats this am and OE loaded
and checked for mail normally. Maybe all this can help
others. Thanks again. Hal
