Configuring Outlook 2007 for gmail - IMAP or POP3

I have configured Outlook 2007 to send email. Gmail is my email account. I
can receive emails sent from Outlook. However, Outlook is not receiving
messages sent to Gmail. It worked previously, but I had to change Gmail
passwords and reconfigured the Outlook as an IMAP account. Since then, I've
run repair and diagnostics and outgoing messages work perfectly. How do I
set Outlook to receive Gmail messages? (Forwarding to another account
doesn't work - there's only one account). I've spent quite a bit of time
hunting down answers on Microsoft's site as well as Google's. Thanks for
helping out.

You contradict yourself or are not clear in clarifying what the difference
is to you;
I can receive emails sent from Outlook. However, Outlook is not receiving
messages sent to Gmail.

When you receive messages in Outlook, they have been sent to Gmail as Gmail
is your mail account configured in Outlook.
 
I was flailing by the time I tried to write a coherent question last night -
I can send messages from Outlook. I do not receive messages in Outlook.
