I use xp home ! When my computer comes out of sleep mode
I have to log in again and always have to restart my
computer before my ethernet connection will work. It's
like it has to be re-set every time. Is there any way to
correct this as it truly is a pain.

Instead of restarting the computer, try disabling and then enabling
the network connection.

Some network cards don't wake up properly from sleep mode. It could
be a problem with the hardware or with the driver program.

If it is a realtek-card, then try to install the newest driver. After
standby my card won´t wake up after a restart.
