What are your peoples thoughts on setting up my printers like this:

I have a roughly 100 users and about 10 printers. All of my printers are HP
with Jet Direct Cards.

Currently I have all of the printers installed and shared from a Windows NT
4 server.

Is this the better method or should I be setting them up to print directly
to the Jet Direct port via IP Address? If so should I add a TCP/IP port on
each workstation then configure the printer on that port?

Thanks

I just wanted to confirm something with you. If I am understanding you
correctly I would install a printer in XP like this. Add new printer -
select local, new port, standard TCP/IP and use the IP address of the
desired printer then install the correct driver?

Can printers be setup this way using a script of some sort?

Are there any downsides to installing the printers this way? What about
administration of the network printers, is it only maintained from the
actual printers management console?

Thanks again

Justin
