DI-604 and curious

When trying to configure a D-LINK router DI-604 modem I
have not been able to execute the CMD
<<ipconfig/release>> Each time the command is entered I
get the response <<Windows IP Configuration The
operation failed as no adaptor is in the state
permissible for this operation>>. Same error message with
the command ipconfig/renew is entered.

The DSL modem continues to work, I have tried swapping
Cat5 cables but no effect.

Any suggestions on what the error message means and a wor
around?

you need a space in the command ipconfig /release

Some things to try

1) Are you running a software based firewall as well? If
so try turning this off before issuing the commands, it
could be blocking the traffic

2) check DHCP client service is enabled in XP

3) check DHCP server is enabled on the D-link router

The config is not in windows, but in the router. What did you
expect.
