Configure Global Catalog Server properly

I have a single site W2K Domain with 4 DC's. I checked in my Sites &
Services / NTDS settings for each server and each one has the Global
Catalog Server (GCS) box checked. I don't think this is normal? What
should I do to fix it? Can I simply uncheck the servers I don't want
to be the GCS and leave a single server as the GCS? Or will that cause
problems.
The AD seems to be running OK.

If there were multiple domains then you would be putting extra load on your
DCs by having them as GCs , but ff you only have one site and one domain it
causes no harm to have all the DCs as GC servers.

You are correct about the removal process by the way

.
In addition, it might not be such a bad idea to have at
least two GCs for redundancy vs. unchecking three boxes (
and, thus, leaving him with only one GC ).
