When my win2000 notebook is at the office, it connects over the ethernet
card to the desktop, mainly to synchronize files. The configuration is
tcp/ip with a static address assigned.
When the notebook is at the law library, I could plug in the library's
LAN cable (a blue one, if that matters) to the NIC, and have highspeed
internet access. The library staff says it needs to be set to dynamic IP.
How can I create a configuration for the notebook so that it works in
both locations?
I tried to create a new profile, and assigned it "administator" rights,
changed the tcp/ip to dynamic, but it didn't work.
But then when I went back to the original "administrator" profile, it
HAD LOST some of its rights . . . it won't change the "location" of the
cmputer for dialing rules, for example; but new profile can do that (but
very little else, as it didn't inherit the desktop from the
"administrator" or the customized features of the applications
(wordperfect user words lists, for example.)
Should I have copied the profile instead of created a new one?
