Hello.
I have a client who is running Windows Server 2000. I have noticed that
when I bring up the DNS admin tool that when I select the server the display
in the right-hand pane is the default "Conigure DNS Server" message. This is
odd to me as the DNS server for the domain is configured and seems to be
running just fine.
However, I have also noticed that when attempting to establish a trust with
another domain I get an error box stating that the RPC Server is unavailable.
I am wondering if the problem is with the way DNS was originally configured.
The server was in place with I started work for this client. What would
happen if I selected the server and selected 'Configure DNS...'? Would doing
so trash the current configuation?
I am loath to try anything because of the risk of breaking what is already
in place. On the other hand, not being able to establish this trust with our
remote site is becoming a problem. While I am not entirely sure DNS is
related to the problem I am experiencing with the trust, I suspect it may be.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
Thank you.
