I am using Outlook 2003 connected via Exchange Server. At work I have no
persistent network hard drives, however, when I am on my home wireless
network I have an Network Direct Attached Storage (NDAS) that automatically
mounts on
connection. My Outlook does not need this drive for any processing; no mail,
setup or data files of any kind are stored there. It is only used for some
personal Office files, backups and music. Outlook is constantly connecting
to this drive when I read my mail, especially mail with an attachment causing
Outlook to wait will the drive spins up. Is there a way to tell Outlook to
ignore this hard drive? or better yet tell Outlook which drives are valid?

No such configuration option exists in Outlook. Out of curiosity, does the
operating system's windows explorer shows this as a "network" or "fixed"
drive?

It shows as "fixed".
