I would like to use the Remote Desktop feature to remote
control a users computer similar to how pcAnywhere does.
Is their a way, without using Remote Assistance, to do
this?

If the PC you want to access/control is an XP Pro box then you can use Remote Desktop.

Otherwise look at using NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing (RDS) or VNC in order to access/control an
XP Home/W2K/Win NT/W9X box remotely...

You can get the VNC software from http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/ , http://www.realvnc.com or
http://www.tightvnc.com

Note that the VNC data stream is *NOT* encrypted like the RDS data stream is. Over the public
internet that is a potential security risk. Some folks run VNC through VPN or SSH tunnels.

NetMeeting is built-in to XP and 2000 and can *NOT* be upgraded. Look at this KB article for help
with RDS...
