Is there anyway to get round access only allowing you to
have 3 conditional formats per text box. is it poss to
code it.

Doff666,

It is certainly possible to change formatting in code. If you are
talking about a single view form, then this will be sweet... just put
your code on the form's Current event. The tricky part, and where
Conditional Formatting is such an advantage, is if you are using a
continuous view form, as in this case the formatting changes you do in
code will be applied to all records. Depending on the specific
requirements, there may be ways around it.

Unfortunatly it is a continuous form does this mean I am
stuffed or is there a way round this the format should
apply only to a specific text box.

I have a form with a sub form the subform is continuous,
on the main form I have text boxes for leave, sickness,
training, by placing the name of the person in the
relevent box I colour the background of the box on the
subform that matches the name in the main form.

However I would like to add more colours for different
events. HELP!

You're limited to four colors - three for three different conditions,
and a fourth default color if none of the conditions are met. In
practice, a form with a dozen different colors on it is often visually
distracting and hard to read; are you certain that this "technicolor"
form would really be beneficial?

That said... you might be able to have two overlapping controls, each
with its own default - which should be set to Transparent and white -
and three additional colors. That would give you seven (white and the
six additional).

Steve the FormatByCriteria solution was built for A97 only and will not
work in A2K without a minor code change. I have not bothered to upgrade
that solution since Conditional Formatting is now available.

I like John's idea but in my personal experience CF literally pukes when
working with overlapping controls.

Sorry about that; it was just an idea, untested!
