Hi, I posted a message last night, but I don't see it
today. I need to concatenate two rows. I type in the
first cell =CONCATENATE(B2, " ",C2). as I type it, Excel
seems to understand, it puts yellow borders around the
cells, but when I hit enter, it puts "=CONCATENATE
(B2, " ",C2)" instead of merging the two cells. How can
I merge two cells? If someone could help me with this, I
would really appreciate it. Thanks, Mindy

Hi Mindy,
maybe the cell format is set to "Text".
1. Go to "Format - Cell" and change it to "general".
2. Reenter the formula or just hit "F2" and "Enter"

If you have inserted a column or row, and the data to the left or above was
text, then the cells in your new column /row will take on the same properties,
so you need to format the cells as general or some other numeric and then
re-enter the formula.

Hi Frank,
Both cells are deemed as general. Any other suggestions?

Hi Mindy,

i think there is another thread with more suggestions. Though - as it
seems- they didn't work either. If you like, send me your spreadsheet
and i will look into it (i'm a little interested why all the
suggestions didn't work)

Hi Frank,
It would be wonderful if you wouldn't mind looking at the spreadsheet ! Could you email me at
(e-mail address removed) so I can send you the file as an attachment ?

Thanks !
