For some strange reason when I start up my computer it stops on a dos screen
and I have to hit del to continue. I have a dell and it always started up
automatically. The screen that it stops at has all the info for my hard
drive and cd rom then just says hit delete to continue.

Many times computer BIOS versions have a "stop on error" feature. It could
be as simple as a "cover has been removed", error, etc. Is there any kind
of an error message that appears? If so correct that and it should be
fine. You may need to enter the BIOS to acknowledge any error that is being
reported, or to reset the falsing "stop on error" function. I can't
remember what the keystroke is on a Dell to enter the BIOS, but it is
probably displayed on your screen prior to Windows starting to load. (IIRC
F2 will enter the BIOS config on most Dells.). That option may even be
visible when it stops on that screen you are seeing.

I entered the bios and did not see anything. I am not too familair with the
bios so I don't want to screw it up. I did not see any error.
