Set up: Laptop w2k, Desktop w2k, network printer, wireless router 2wire
1800hg. Preface: could not get pc's to talk or find each other, set network
wizard and group names no luck. Found out to set net bios over tcp/ip. Done
comps found drives mapped. Shut down everything. Start up next day no pc's
found, no drives could be joined. Nothings changed?! used network wizard for
home net work even changed group name still netbios tcp/ip seaching for pcs
cant even find own either decktop or laptop. both can ping each other,
printer still workes on ip port and internet can be accessed on both. What's
going on what's the answer. Fixed ip, not ones allocated by router and
canging from automatically find DNS/IP's however, you do that. Hope someone
can give me an answer I can give further info or feedback as we go to help
others cheers, David

OK, the configuration looks good:

1. If you are running any firewalls or security software on these machines,
uninstall it - disabling is not enough. You can reinstall and configure
after you get the network functioning.

2. Either log onto each computer with the same user name and password, or
make sure that each computer has a user account which matches the user name
and password used to log onto the other machine.

3. On danserver click Start/Run \\192.168.1.65 ENTER

What happens? If you get an Explorer windows showing shares on the laptop,
try the same thing with \\amandaslaptop. If you again get the Explorer
window, try mapping a drive. Be sure the 'Reconnect at logon' box is
checked. If all of this works, reboot and see what happens.
