If i put my p.c. in suspend/standyby mode (Start/Shutdown/Standby) it
suspends fine, but when i press key, the processor wakes up (i hear the fan
start), but the harddrive & monitor wont wake up - i have to reboot

Any ideas why?

i've tried all configuration of power management & bios settings still no go

Hi Jethro.

Try updating your Bios or motherboard drivers for windows this might help.

Then don't do it - W2K will mostly "hang" if you use standby/suspend -
several background services need to run in real time, and won't
"wake-up".

i've read that article but it's not very explainatory, they say the problem
is because:

"Advanced Power Management (APM) is enabled in the Power Options tool in
Control Panel"

'enabled' ???

i cant see any enable/disable switch, in power options at all

they also say:

Advanced Power Management (APM) is enabled in the Power Options tool in
Control Panel

"To resolve this issue, configure the time-out settings in the Power Options
tool in Control Panel so that they are for a shorter time "

i dont see any "timeout" settings either - i have my hardrive set to
shutdown after an hour inactivity -choice is from 3 minutes (and dont want
my drive shutting every 3 mins) or NEVER

i dont think they are talking Win2000
