This is a 120GB hard drive. I have tried every jumper setting and also
with no jumper setting. The unit powers up but my computer Dell Pentium
4 will not recognize the hard drive. Samsung says they don't their
support hard drives used in external enclosures. My computer recognizes
my other large capacity hard drives. Any suggestions?

Try it as master again- but are you sure the jumper was on
the correct pins? IIRC, some of Samsungs labels were a bit
confusing.

When you write that it recognizes your other drives, do you
mean drives in the system or in (same?) external enclosure
you now have the Samsung in? If other drives in same
enclosure don't work, you may have a USB or USB+WInXP
problem.

Have you used this drive in any other way yet, to confirm it
works (at all) ? You might try hooking it up internally,
doing a quick partition and format with the Samsungn setup
utility and just make it bootable (FAT32, DOS bootable for
example merely because it's quick to do), then see if your
board would boot to it with bios menu set to prioritize USB
drives in the boot device order.
