I recently added a 3rd HDD (120GB) and now my computer
doesn't recognize the DVD-RAM part of my Panasonic LF-D521
internal DVD-R/DVD-RAM Recorder. According to the
Panasonic site I should be okay if Device Manager shows
the DVD-RAM Device. It is listed, as shown
here.
I think that my problem may be the second listing of the
device under "disk Drives." I've tried uninstalling the
device using W2k device manager but it continues to
reappear whenever I reboot my computer. I've also tried
physically removing the driver "disk.sys" from my drivers
directory and, again, it is rewritten whenever I reboot my
computer.
My ultimate goal is of course to get my DVD-RAM back, and
maybe I'm on the wrong track with trying to remove the
second notation for a DVD-RAM drive (with the "!") in
Device Manager.
If any of you is familiar with this problam with the 521
please let me know. I've had driver problems with the unit
in the past and have installed Panasonic's updatd driver.
If someone doesn't have a clue about my DVD-RAM solution
but can tell me how to remove the errant second notation
for a DVD-RAM drive (with the "!") then I'll go for that
also. Maybe it'll get my DVD-RAM bask.
Thanks
