Computer won't power off at shutdown now

My hard drive died, so I replaced it and did a new installation of Win2K
Pro. I haven't installed any pathes yet.

The computer used to power down when I shut down windows, but now I get a
message that it's safe to turn the computer off, which I must do manually.

Holding down the delete key when it says to generates a message "Wait,"
then it boots normally.

Any clue on how to get the computer to power down with shut down?

After posting my query, I downloaded the 4th service packe from MS's
Website, and the computer now powers down without further ado. Bummer. I
don't know whether the updates did it or posting the query caused the
problem to go away. :->

The reason is that you're a lawyer and your copy of "bill
me" absolutely prohibits sytem shutdown, this is to ensure
your computer maintains your timesheet entries according
to the script file "charge over the top" even whilst you
are asleep...

Lawyers, trolls and spammers, nuke them until they glow in
the dark...
