I have Windows XP home, Sony dvd player. When I put a disc in to play
nothing happens. In my computer it shows the drive but no title. I bring up
media player (Windvd5 and Windows media player) it won't play. Checked event
viewer and say it is a ID7 Symblic name IO_ERR_BAD_BLOCK. What can I do to
fix this problem. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Do you have this with *any* DVD or just one? On some models the
laser can go bad.

You could:
clean the lens with a dvd-lens-cleaner
uninstall (disconnect the device) when shutdown, start the PC,
shutdown again and reconnect the device, windows will look for the
driver.

Try the dvd-player in another PC.
