Hi,

I have a problem with my Radeon 64 Vivo.

(February 25)
********************************************************************
I never had any problem with it. But now, when i want to play a game,
the computer crash every time, with the screen full of vertical line, for
about 10 seconds, and then the monitor goes off (sleep mode). The games
crash in the menu, or even in the load process, sometime a little bit later.

(February 29)
********************************************************************
Now my computer can't boot.
The computer start, and after a few seconds (before the WinXP Pro Screen
with the Status bar) the same screen appear, black background and green,
purple, white vertical line (different width each time)..

So now i'm really stuck, did someome have any idea ??

If needed, i can send you a URL with a picture of the problem.

Thank you.

Video card sounds FUBAR.

Check your PSU as well, borrow one if possible, otherwise install MBM5 and
let us know the minimum voltage on each of the +3.3, +5 and +12 lines.

Oh, actually I doubt you can do that! Try another PSU and Video card, it's
bound to be one or the other.

That happened to me with my 9500 pro and it was the old 300w power supply so
a new Antec 400w PS did the trick. That also happened to my son when he
installed his new 9700 pro and he had a 300w ps but another new Antec PS
400w fixed things. Just be sure the Power supper is a name brand and a 400w
or higher.

That is just my 2 cents worth.

Today i have tried the video card from the computer at the job and the
system is ok. (damn i have some problem with my english this afternoon ;o)

After that, i made a last test with my Radeon, and the system was ok. But,
the first time the computer was booting a saw some glitch after the Bios
checkup (memory count, drive etc..), so maybe the car is working only for a
limited time.

All that to say that i can give you the Voltage you ask :o))

+3.3 = 3,28
+5.00 = 4,49
+12.00 = 10,70

Thank you.

+3.3 = 3,28
+5.00 = 4,49

These both have a 5% tolerance, making your 5V line too low and out of spec.
+12.00 = 10,70

This is 10% tolerance, and thus just outside of spec.

Your PSU is underpowered or dying and if it is not the cause of your current
(no pun intended) problems it will likely be the cause of future problems.
