Compaq Presario 5003Us

Original OS Windows ME
Upgraded OS Windows 2000

Loaded 2 -256 MB PNY RAM

On restart computer just keeps booting up to the Windows
screen and never goes any farther. I tried reinstalling
original memory cards, does the same thing.

At some point I couldn't get onto AOL, didn't have version
8 disk so loaded version 9, couldn't connect to aol.

AOL tech had me check the Remote Access Connection, it
wouldn't start, so reinstalled Windows 2000 boots up to
the Windows screen and won't go any farther.

Installed the ME recovery disks, still won't boot up. I
got it to boot up once, installed Video card (ATI All in
Wonder VE). Installed Norton Anti Virus. AOL 9,
installed some windows updates, ran Anti Virus software.

I've contacted HP and tried loading two different SPs that
would update BIOS.

Any suggestions?

Your "upgrade" was not really an upgrade, since Win2000
was released first, followed by WinME. Maybe you should
call it a "backgrade". Some of these pseudo-upgrades work,
others have strange flaws that are the result of an unsupported
migration. If it was my machine then I would save my data
and reload Win2000 onto a formatted hard disk.
