My Aunt recently bought an E machine package that included thelexmark X5270 all in one printer.

Now if the printer is connected to the computer upon start up.The computer won't boot, will not even allow you to get to thebios. If you unconnect the USB, Start the computer and then plugthe printer in everything works fine. {This is a solution notthe optimal one.}
I have updated the drivers from Lexmarks site.

Operating system is XP Home edition
512 DDR ram

Any ideas, thought... brainstorms

For diagnostic purposes:
Disconnect the printer. Start the computer. Enter the BIOS setup and
navigate to the setting for USB. Change PNP aware Operating system (or
words to that effect) from yes to no. Save settings and exit.

Restart the machine with the printer plugged in.

Check the machine's user manual, whether the paper version or on-line to
the maker's web site, for instructions on entering its BIOS setup and
the location of the setting.
----------

Also check for a BIOS update on the computer maker's web site or,
failing that, the BIOS maker's site.

Let us know.
