Have a Iriver H10 20GB device--When plugged into my desk top (XP home) I get a message that the device is defective and replace it--Tried a second identical device with the same response. Have 2 computers with identical hardware and the result is the same on both.
Have a laptop also xp home and it finds and sets up the device without any problem.
I also have several usb 2.0 devices working well on both.
The two desktops are getting long in the tooth , both are 2 or 3 years old.
Any suggestions as to what drivers or other good stuff I could try to cure the problem?
Any advice will really be appreciated--Thanks--Mel

The Iriver H10 device requires Ultra-fast 2.0 USB transfers.
Your old units may only have 1.0 or 1.1 USB. You can buy 2.0 USB PCI
cards at eBay for as low as $15.

No, the iRiver H10 does not requre "Ultra-fast" USB 2.0. Where did you
get such an idea? Mine works fine (though slower) with 1.1.
