Built my own computer:
Setup: MOBO-A8N SLI DELUXE,Processor: AMD 3400,Graphics card: BFG-
660OGT, PS-Antec Neopower 480. HD- 1 WD3200JD 320GB ATA, Sony DVD/CD
burner.
Computer has worked fine for almost a year. Playing Far Cry (not the
first time) and unit shut down. Tried rebooting PS supply kicks off.
Pulled Graphics card and found it was bad, put in replacement card from
friend (that worked) computer would still not boot. Had PS checked out
worked fine on another unit. Green standby light comes on on MOBO but
not boot up, fans on Processor, and PS do not come on.Now have 6600
replacement from BFG but i beleive there is another problem somewhere
and do not want to fry the new card. Need suggestions on what else
could have caused this and next steps?

No funny smells?:-) The PCI-e video card was "bad" how? Steps to take:
strip down to min config... floppy-only if you have one; clear CMOS to see
if that has an effect; stick an old PCI video card in. Was the test "unit"
for the PS comparable in power draw to your mbrd?... did it pull enough
current to be sure the PS is good?

While it sounds suspiciosly like it's the mbrd which has gone south, I've
heard of people having trouble with the SLI selector cards - take it out,
inspect and reseat it and if you can get a hold of another try a swap of
that.

George,
thanks for the info. Unhooked all my peripherals, found my
floppy drive was bad replaced that. Then restarted computer and found
still in standby found loose wire and was able to boot it up by hitting
the standby button. Installed replacement card and drivers, computer
now boots. Suspicion was the video card fan died so in addition to new
card put extra front fan in. Delay in replying due to holiday.
