Now you have just learned a complexity of all Windows Based Programs. THEY
HAVE TO BE INSTALLED FOR THE SYSTEM TO RECOGNIZED THEM. Windows based
programs use the installation program to write lines of code into the
Registry Files and to install several support files into the Windows System
folders so that the operating systems knows how to find these programs and
files. When you start your new computer, the Registry does not know the
programs are on the old drive and even it did, it would not know how to find
support files. Your data that you created is still valid, but you will
have to Re-install all of your programs so that the new operating system
knows where to look.

I've bought a new computer, and wanted to keep my old hard drive with all
of my running programs etc. Now I can not access my programs or data.
Windows sees the files but I don't have a way to start the programs. How do
I get windows to acknowledge my old programs on the old drive?
