The bios will have some settings in it about powering on
on certain events. There is a bios setting usually to
power on if the telephone rings, if you have a standard
modem connected to the phone line for instance. I'm sure
you would have noticed if it tied in with something like
that but maybe it's something similar. Also perhaps
check scheduled tasks from the control panel and see if
anything there could possibly do it.
My wife has long hair. I found the same problem caused by a hair draped
accrose the motherboard.
