Computer suddenly turns on from standby

I recently installed Windows XP (home edition) on a
Compaq 800mhz Celeron which had been running Windows ME.
I used a "new installation" to clean my hard disc.

XP Runs great EXCEPT that it SPONTANEOUSLY turns on
occasionally while in standby without ANY movement of the
mouse.

Is my machine haunted?? (LOL). Any ideas what's going on??

Be sure to first close out any running programs, and I

would disconnect from a DSL or Cable moden connection,
just unplug the modem power or switch it off.
