Hi, my computer came w/ win xp home(need pro) and there are alot of programs installed. Are there any statup programs or other files I can disable or remove safely so my computer works better? Thank-you.

Hi Danny,

Uninstall the ones you don't use, why allow them to sit there and waste
space? Start/run msconfig and disable anything on the startup tab that is
not essential to you. Nothing here *needs* to load at boot other than
AV/firewall software and possibly any hardware driver helper apps.

Hey Nick, I have some software that will only work w/ pro and not w/ home-go figure. Something about fast user switching and windows terminal service uncompatible

Hey Rick, the programs list in msconfig are too condensed to tell what they are except for AOL and ink monitor. What about running services? Can I disable those ie: networking, etc.?

Thanks alot for your help.

Hi Danny,

Go here:

and get Doug's startup tracker, it will make things easier to decipher.
