Am running XP Pro and having a problem with the computer shutting down periodically, get an error message that says "off mode in 5 seconds" before it shuts down. I don't have a worm or virus so that's out. Would the CPU fan need replacing? Or could it be a problem with the motherboard? Any help would be appreciate

Check your power settings and make sure you don't have it
set up to shut down the PC after a certain amount of time.

It's not set up to do that. I'm a puter tech and this is baffling me, I'm going to replace the CMOS battery and CPU fan today and hopefully that will help the problem. Thanks for replyin
