Having trouble with my computer shutting down and re-
booting for no reason. Also when in the process of
coming back up receive "disk requires consistency
check". I also receive this sometimes when I
close/restart normally. I don't see any error messages
but am guessing they are logged somewhere. Is their
somewhere I can look to determine what my problem may
be? Have just upgraded my OS from Windows ME to Windows
XP (Home Edition). Any ideas?

If you have a H/P pavilion with 512MB of RAMyou need to
reduce it to 256MB.Hewlet Packard,512MB RAM,and XP don't
mix very well

Some thing to check out.
Control panel>open up system folder click on advanced,
under startup and recovery click on settings look for a
box that says automatic restart uncheck it.
you may also want to run checkdisk this may be why you
get the "disk requires consistency check" message
good luck Mike

What have you been smoking? There are literally thousands of HPs with 512MB
RAM and WinXP with no problems. If you are going to attempt to answer posts
in this newsgroup, you need to post accurate info and not the dribble that
you posted here.

Bobby

(P.S. I do not own nor do I work for HP; just that I know there are alot of
them out there with %!@MB and WinXP).
