Hello,
I currently have Windows XP Home SP2. When I am online and opening and
closing alot of pages, and or watching a clip of something, it seems as
though my computer freezes and then shuts completely off. I have a DSL Line
so opening and closing the pages while watching something is no big deal
speed wise, it just seems as thought the computer can not handle it and shuts
the whole thing off. It is very annoying especially when it happens like 3
or 4 times in a row. Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help will
be greatly appreciated!

Thanx,
Rich

Shuts down? Sounds like a problem with heat. Most systems will shut
themselves off when the CPU gets too hot so that this expensive bit of
hardware (the heart of the PC) doesn't get fried. It may correlate with web
browsing (vs reading text files) because you're viewing pages with a lot of
interactive content - the system is working harder and overheats.

Check that fans are working, especially the fan for the CPU.

If this is not a laptop and you're confident, disconnect the system from
all peripherals and power supply. Open the case and use a can of compressed
air to blow out any accumulated dust.

Relocate the case to a location that offers good ventilation (don't tuck it
in a cabinet where there's "dead air").
