My computer randomly shuts down for no reason. a message
from the NT/authority system will appear telling me I
have one minute to save my work before shutdown. thougt
maybe it was a virus but just wiped the harddrive with
wipedrive and reformated yesterday and its still doing
it!?! please help.

I had similar experience couple of weeks ago.

It appears that as soon a new installation of XP is installed and connected
to the internet it only takes seconds for the Virus to infect your computer,
even if virus scanner is installed and detects it, it still seems to stay on
your machine and cause problem.

Before connecting to the internet make sure you enable the built in XP
firewall first then update all MS Critical patches......

Instructions for getting rid of the virus is given in othe posts to this
thread so I will not repeat them.
