Computer shutdown and start itself

Recently, my computer will shutdown itself in a random time inside
windows XP.

Sometimes it works a week, sometime few minutes, then shutdown.

The weird thing is it will start itself in a random time too (just
like somebody press the power button).



At the beginning, I though the PSU have problem. But this problem
still exist after I have replaced my PSU.

SO, did anyone have the same experience before? is my motherboard have
problem?



Any recommendation are welcome.

What' s the power of your both PSU's ?

Unlikely. Smells like a cold soldered joint or poor socket
connection. Faulty electrolytic capacitors are another
possibility. Careful use of the Mark I eyeball is recommended.

i have the same trouble with my system

recently replaced motherboard to an MSI i was reluctant because i had read
reviews saying they do just shut off with random restarts


it wont be my PSU and if it is then i will have something to say to
thermaltake, they are a top end manufacturer of PSU's and when u pay £55 for
a 480w psu u expect it to work more than a few months

had two fans on full two

had trouble with old 350w psu anyhow i bet it is your motherboard if it isnt
spyware or malware virus related

i have been getting IRQ errors too, i suspect this is my poor quality BT
modem, i will be upgrading to an adsl router before long, had one but it too
broke

think i am not the net too much lol

Monitor CPU temp, power supply voltage, and compare cpu temp
to any cpu-temp-shutdown setting in the bios or a software
monitor program you might be running. I am assuming
"shutdown" does mean the system turns off, not resets. If
it resets then also look at Window's Event Viewer and
disable the reboot on error setting, "automatically restart"
