My computer will occasionally shutdow and restart after I
boot it up. This happens after hitting the first one or
two keys on the keyboard. I am normally looking at or
sending a new E-mail on windows outlook express when this
happens. Is this a Windows problem or might it be some
other software problem? It always happens after starting
to type on the keyboard. I have a wireless keyboard but am
not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

It may be one of a few things; Firstly, it may be a
software problem. Secondly, memory problem. Lastly, a
power supply issue. I would start by going to the SYSTEM
PROPERTIES. In here you will select the ADVANCED tab and
then click the SETTINGS button in the section STARTUP &
RECOVERY. Uncheck the box "Automatically Restart". When
your computer has a system failure it will reboot. We
want to turn this off to see any error messages if any.
Then if you don't get any errors and it doesn't reboot
when it normally does you may want to look into trying to
change the power supply for a good one and reseating the
memory dimms. I think it may be the power supply or
memory sticks themselves. Probably the memory sticks. I
would rule out the overheating of memory or cpu because
it happens soon as you start the computer.

Hope this helps,
Chris P.

Why not try a PS2 connected keyboard as a test and disconnect the (I am
assuming) USB keyboard.
