computer showes Win Xp starting up then it blacks out

I run windows xp pro and recently when I went to get on my desktop I was
shocked to see it was back to the original desktop and all of my files and
such were gone. I have altiris recovery program so I ran it to recover all of
my missing files and settings. It took a couple of hours to finish. After
that my computer will not show anything on the screen and the keyboard
doesn't come on. I shut it down with the power button and tried to restart it
again and it did the same so I shut it down the same way. It was very low on
memory before this occured and I noticed someone had loaded norton, and spy
doctor before I could delete files to free up space. What do I do now? I am
using my other PC to send this.

Try hitting F8 and safe mode which uses less resources....
