Hey, I just formatted and installed windows, when the computer start
up, its reaches the Xp loading screen, then another screen pops up
This then tells me that one of my drives needs to be checked fo
consistency, then the screen goes blank. The monitor goes into
standby mode, while the computer and hard drive keep running as i
nothing is wrong

Basically the video card or monitor cant handle the video mode thats used.

Start in safe mode (press F8 as windows is starting). Install video drivers
from the manufacturer of your video card. Download the latest from the web
site, do NOT install video drivers from any CD-Rom. If you can't find video
drivers from the manufacturer of your video card, download the latest video
drivers from the manufacturer web site of the video card chipset (ati,
nvidia). -Dave

use safe mode and reduce the screen size and resolution. the warning about
the harddrive is because your shutting down without being able to see the
shutdown screen.

Whar do you mean by decreasing the screen size? I don't think i ca
get to that from safe mode

display properties/ 800x600 1280x760etc . the refresh rate is more
important.
You should get the actual driver file from the manufacturer if you haven't
already

the prior quote in your message.

Maybe I have the wrong drivers,

Yes, you need to check that.

It could be a faulty video card that doesnt
support the mode used to do the disk check.
