Whenever I insert a disk into my CD Drive (Drive C) it doesn't do anything.
When I go to my computer, it tells me that there is no CD in the drive. This
is happening with both music CDs and CD-roms, even those I've used before.

I really need to find a way to fix this!

1. Unplug the computer and open the case. Reseat the ribbon cable going
from the motherboard to the drive and also reseat the power supply
connector going to the drive. Is the drive seen in the BIOS? If yes,
great - you're done.

2. If not, swap out the ribbon cable for a new one. Is the drive seen in
the BIOS now? If yes, great - you're done.

3. If not, replace the drive with a known-working one. Is the drive seen
in the BIOS now? If yes, great - you're done.

4. If the replacement drive is not seen, the fault lies on your
motherboard. A workaround is to try the drive on a different
motherboard connector, but you should probably replace the motherboard.

This is a hardware problem, not a software (Windows) problem.

look in your device manager for any yellow ? or ! on the optical drive
icons... that way, you can tell if theya re working porperly. If not.. you
can try getting the most recent drivers from the drive makers website. You
can aslo get the Hardware Wizard to find them if you were to Unisnatll the
driver. Good luck
