I have a computer that sometime run very slow. It's my daughter's. It works
fine one day and the next day, it run so slow, it's ridiculous. I've noticed
that she has too many program running at the same time. She has plenty space
in the C:\ drive.
I also would like to know how to speed up the bootable after you turn the
computer on. It seems like it take alot of time to get to the main screen.
Thanks,
Lauria

Get a copy of msconfig.exe from http://www.svrops.com/svrops/dwnldoth.htm
then run it. Now have a look at the items under the Startup tab. Leave
the virus scanner in place but remove the tick marks from all the other
items that you do not consider essential. This has the effect of not
invoking unnecessary programs at boot time.

If you find that you removed a few ticks to many, just rerun msconfig
and put them back.

By the way, have you considered the possibility that your computer
might be infected with a virus, with adware or with spyware?

I have downloaded Spybot just recently and that's when the computer started
acted up.
Thanks,
Lauria

Uninstall Spybot and see what happens!

Okay, it seems to be working. How can I make the computer come up fast? It
seems to take a long time to come up after you turn the computer on. How
can I fix that?
Thanks,

Hey Lauria. there are many factors that affect a computer that causes it to
run slow and they are low memory, too much installed programs and background
services that have to load at startup.

You should make some maintenance work on your computer just like Mike
advised you to do and I myself would recommend installing more RAM memory if
that's part of the problem.
