Damage2003

Hi,
Now I have a new deal. Everytime I shutdown my computer it keeps restarting
by itself and turns back on. I doesn't shutdown. What could I do to shutdown
the computer from the start menu??

HELP

This is normally caused by hardware, software, or drivers
that are not working correctly with XP. First thing to
do is unplug any printers, scanners, cameras, etc.. from
the computer. Restart the computer and try shutting it
down. If problem persists the run msconfig from run and
disable all startup items and restart the computer and
then try shutting it down. If problem still persists
then try booting to safe mode and shutting down from safe
mode.

Are you stuck in a restart loop? If yes, try starting in Safe Mode. When
there, check Event Viewer for clues.

A default setting in XP restarts the system when there is a system error.
Convenient most of the time but not when there are shutdown or startup
problems. To turn this off, use System properties> Advanced> Startup and
Recovery> Settings. Uncheck the box to restart when a system error occurs.
This will not stop the errors from occuring. Instead you most likely get a
blue screen message that may hold an error message different than what is
recorded in Event Viewer.
