Frak

I have an IBM clone, custom built with AMD processor,
running Window XP. (800mHz chip, 256 RAM)

since it was new, the Pc will actually just reboot itself
for NO reason! I can just be there reading something in a
a browser window and it just start the reboot process all
by itself!!!

It will even do it with no inter-action on the system at
all. Example, You leave the PC on, come back later and it
has rebooted itself.

Do to a virus, I have completly re-installed XP
(unrelated) So, I know its not software or windows?

I took it back to the shop that built it and they cannot
find out why it does this and have no explanation.

(Yes, I have check for a loose power cord and changed it)

It reboots, not powers down!

It seems to be getting more frequent. The PC is about 1
year old.

This can be ultra frustrating while trying to work, as I
work from my home. I loose data frequently because of
this.

Help!!! Anybody!!!

Hi Frak,

Unfortunately, there is more than one potential cause for what you
describe.... *fortunately*, it sounds like you're motivated to fix it. :o)

I suggest you begin here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm click on the letter 'R', and
then scroll down until you reach "Reboot - Windows Boots without warning!"

The main site, is helpful for many other different things (tips and tweaks,
too, not just fixes).... but reserve those for when you solve that
rebooting problem....

Good Luck,
