Anyone know why my computer running windows 2000 would suddenly reboot
for no apparent reason. was working fine and i only installed drive
image and acrobat 6 recently. other than that it was working fine.

One more thing, about 3 weeks ago my computer, out of nowhere started
beeping and one of the Dimms went bad. pulled out the faulty dimm and
started working fine again. Just thought i should add that tidbit in.

Any help would be appreciated

You already got a clue to the problem, as it is usually hardware
related. Beep sequences mean things - check your motherboard manual
(download one if you don't have it.). Identify what the beeping
meant. Could have been overheating, although that is typically a
siren, or no RAM, indicating a faulty stick or slot.

Also, power supplies are very cheap, and easy to replace. You might
want to try a new one.

Hi,

Reboot in windows 2000 means Blue Screen Of Death. Your memory problem is
certenly in cause. Try to replace it.

John - any number of things cause sudden reboots - most often hardware.
In your case, since you dove in a few weeks ago and removed a dimm (I
assume before the rebooting problem appeared), perhaps you somehow
loosened some electrical connection or device. Suggest you pull out the
stitches, open 'er up again, and make absolutely certain every device is
properly seated and every electrical connection of any type is firm.
Even fans. If you have W2k set to reboot automatically instead of
halting with a BSOD, change that; the BSOD is useful.
