My computer is rebooting by itself! It's done this a few times in the
last
couple of days. What is causing this. I am using windows XP home,
SP1.
Have you been using the temperature monitoring utility provided by your
motherboard or computer maker to see if the processor or system is
getting too hot over time? Often these will also allow monitoring the
voltages to make sure you are within tolerance. Out of range voltages
can cause data corruption or system instability.
Do you have a UPS attached to the computer to help take care of handling
momentary outages? Noticed any flickering of your lights lately?
Checked what other equipment is connected on the same circuit as the
computer, and have you added any other electrical gear lately to that
circuit?
Overclocking anything?
Made any hardware changes lately, like adding more system RAM or another
hard drive?
Installed any new versions of video, audio, or other hardware drivers
lately?
