Have just put my new mobo and processor into the case, turned on power supply and the fans start spinning slowly straight away. They arent waiting for a signal off the power button. The power button isnt doing anything ( i did check to make sure it was plugged in) and my system just seems to be idling, not booting. I`m a bit nervous/ concerned coz this coz me a lot of money.

ANY AND ALL IDEAS WELCOME

Sorry... its ok I fixed it. Something, probably in the front panel jumper cluster was short-circuiting. Chose not to delete post in case something else can benefit from this.

SO RELIEVED!

good to hear 20 minutes of pure hell and pain!

and that one minute of pure relief!

21 minutes of your life changed forever!:)

Heh heh... would have been perfectly happy to have those 21 minutes of normal time... :)

Realised my spelling in the first post was pretty poor... paniking too much to pay attention!!

Anyway... It turns out that my front panel USB hub, when plugged into a USB port on the mobo, is triggering the fans, and over-riding the power switch, so it does nothing. Have yet to install the mobo drivers etc, but it would be.. annoying if i have to scrap my hub.

Make sure your USB hub is "pined-out" correctly ... USB carries 500mV, irreparable damage can be caused.

;)
