Since Monday, 8/25/03, every time I shut my XP machine
down, I lose my network connections. It's like the
server doesn't exist. I have automatic IP address on.
In order to access the server I have to use the Wizard to
reestablish the connection. It creates a new Network
Bridge every time. I'm up to Network Bridge 8 now. I'm
the IT person here by default, so my knowledge is not as
deep as most people on this forum. Just looking for a
solution. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for your time...

Maybe a new patch/driver wrote over something.... Can you go back to a
restore point before 8.25.03 to see if that is a help.

Phil

Phil,

Thanks for responding. I tried various restore points
and cannot correct the problem. Everytime the machine is
restarted, I have no connections on my LAN. I have to
setup a new network connection to work. Once I do this,
everything is fine, but having to do it everyday is tough.

Any additional thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

Andy,
Try this for a tempory fix wutil you find a perminate solution. Press
"start", right mouse click on "my network places", click "properties", right
mouse click on "local area connection" and click on "repair". See if you can
connect.

Hope this helps.

Tony,
Thanks for responding. I have already tried this and
repair does not work. I have also tried ipconfig and
have had no positive result.

Folks,

I found the answer to the problem. During the Network
setup wizard, instead of having XP use recommended
connections, I chose my own and unchecked the 1394. No
network bridge was created and my connections to the
internet and my network are OK.

Thank for all your help
Andy
