I have windows 2000 prof. I dont see my computer name
when I browse "My Network Places". I can find my computer
when I do a computer search. If its a synching issue, my
computer has been up just like the rest of the computers
in the browser and still I dont see mine. I know in
windows 98, you can control not to show your computer in
the browser list, is there same feature in W2KProf? Please
enlighthen me. Thanks a million.

Do you have a name server on your network (WINS or DNS)? Are you using
NetBT (NetBIOS over TCP/IP)?

What is your node type set to? Reply w/ the results of:

ipconfig /all

Looks like you're registering on a WINS server that is not part of your
segment. Are the other machines on your segment also registering on
that same WINS server?

There is a way to "hide" MTx machines. You could either use the "net
server" command (not recommended because it turns off server autotuning
- well, at least it did in NT4. I actually don't know if it does under
W2K as well), or in the registry.

Which way are you interested in?
