Computer Name Incomplete

A few of our Windows 2000 Professional SP4 computers have incomplete names.
My Computer, Properties, Network Identification shows just the name without
the.DomainName suffix in the Full Computer Name box. Viewed in Active
Directory, the computer properties has nothing in the DNS name box. What's
going on?

Are you sure you added the computer to the domain

In the network identification tab click the properties button and make sure you have Domain checked and everything looks right. If everything is configured right, try disjoining the domain by joining a workgroup, and then rejoin your domain.
 
You might try defining the domain name. Two ways to do this:

1. DHCP scope option 15
2. System properties, computername, change, more
