Hi.

I built my first XP Embedded image to run on a standard PC for some basic
testing. I was able to get it up and running, and after a few trials and
errors, add most of the necessary components. One thing I am missing,
though, is the service that gives a unique name to the PC (i.e. the name
displayed by "net name"). Which component should I add in order to enable
this service?

Thanks,
Dai

Dai,

Computer name is set in the (Hardware->Devices->Computer) a.k.a. HAL
Component typically - Standard PC, or Advanced Computer and Power Interface,
or etc. The component will depend on the type of target machine. Looking the
the Settings in the detail pane, there is a System Identification Settings
listed where you can set the computer name.

Thanks for the quick response, Sean.

Now, is the "Settings in the detail pane" you're referring to found in
Target Designer? I don't have the host machine here, so I cannot check
right now.

Thanks again!

Thanks again, Sean. I was able to set the computer name by going to the
"APCI Multiprocessor PC" component and setting the name right there. (The
test machine is a dual Pentium 3 PC.)

Kind regards,
Dai
