I am having a problem resuming my computer XP home after
hibernation. The video flashes but then seems to go back
to a black screen but the hard drive continues to flash.
I am running MS XP with SP1.

Any work arounds or know issues for recoverering from
this type of hibernation problem

Hibernation simply shuts down the computer with the current state saved and
then restored on the next boot. If you have any open applications, when it
boots it returns you to the same place. Are you talking about Hibernation
or Standby?

Most definately Hibernation.

Typically I chose hibernation from the logon menu using the shift to select Hibernation instead of standby.

What happen only occurs on reboot. I am using the power button upon restart, but all that happens is the screen flashes grey then goes black and the hard drive continues to flash but nothing happens.

Any suggestiolns?

I'd start by checking the Event Viewer. Open Control Panel, open
Administrative Tools, open Event Viewer, look for errors that correspond to
when this happens, double click the error, the information within may give a
clue as to the source of the issue.

How much free space on the drive that contains the Hiberfile. If you are
cramped for space on that drive, that could be an issue though, usually,
it's some sort of compatibility issue that causes problems with this
feature, some hardware or driver issue.
