I installed a new network card (Surecom) after I had difficulties with a
Realtek card (slow network connection). However, when I am trying to install
the driver that came with the card, I get an error message:

"This is a PCI version RSET. It doesn't support NON-PCI system!!!"

I am having exactly the same problems with this card as I had with the
Realtek: the connection to this particular computer on the LAN is extremely
slow (takes 3 minutes to copy a 5MB file).

Could the above error message explain something? I mean: it's a PCI card and
obviously the computer has got PCI ports (otherwise I wouldn't manage to
push it in there, hey?).

Thanks for the help, guys!

Your PCI port might be fried. Try another slot.

Check the drivers.
