Computer locks up when playing games

I added DDR memory (from 128mb to 540mb)and now my
computer locks up while playing games like Call to Duty.
I get an error message referring to the display driver
ialmrnt5.dll, or that my computer has recovered from a
serious error, etc. I've updated all the graphics
drivers and still have the problem. Dxdiag.exe checks out
ok. If I remove the 512mb memory card and take the system
back to 128mb memory, it works fine, but too slow.

Hello Kim,

Try switching the memory on your mother board. Make sure the larger card is
in the first slot.
slot0 - 512
slot1 - 128

Windows XP is highly sensitive to mismatched RAM sticks, Kim. First try the
other suggestion in this thread, and if that doesn't straighten it out you
should just go with the single 512 MB stick. I'd also check the motherboard
specs to make sure you can go over 512 total RAM. Some don't go higher.

Very good point Chris I forgot that motherboards can only go so high...
thanks even I can learn things here :)

could also be flaky memory. download memtest, burn it to
cd, boot from it and run it. prime95 is good too. This
would be a last resort.
